To Mayor McCrory, District Attorney
Gilchrist, Chief of Police Darrell Stephens, and the City Council Members:
As a Christian residing in the greater
Charlotte area, I have compassion for all hurting men and women, including those
trapped in homosexuality, and it is my desire to offer them freedom, forgiveness,
and transformation through the gospel. However, I take strong exception to the annual
"Charlotte Pride" event held in Marshall Park, an event which is marked by all kinds
of public lewdness and obscenity, including dancers simulating anal sex, scantily-clad
transvestites gyrating in the presence of toddlers, and profanity-laden, sexually
perverse speeches and performances. This is a clear violation of our community standards,
and I urge you to use all rightful and legal means to stop this event from taking
place in our city. It does not belong in a public park, and it does not enhance
our community in any way.
Thank you for standing up for what
is right, for upholding our community standards, and for helping Charlotte to be
a family-friendly city.
